The Healthy Pregnancy, Healthy Baby SMS Service of the mHealth Tanzania Partnership has again been nominated for a prestigious Global Mobile (GLOMO) Award. The GLOMO Awards are handed out at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, the biggest mobile event of the world. This time the SMS Service has been nominated for best mobile innovation for emerging markets in the Category of Social and Economic Development.

In 2016, 8 years later, mobile technology is a key player in the hard-to-reach areas of the continent of Africa, as well as in Asia and Latin America. What will the mobile technology world look like after the upcoming 8 years? Bas Hoefman, CEO and co-founder, shares his predictions with us.
There is more and more evidence that mobile health (mHealth) interventions can improve health behaviors and are especially important in low-resource, low-access settings. But a great challenge remains in developing financially sustainable programs that can be set up and be continued without being fully dependent from funding. In this recent study, different strategies and cost-coverage models have been investigated to answer the question: How can mHealth initiatives achieve long-term financial sustainability? The test case of the study was the successful Mobile For Reproductive Health program (M4RH) in Tanzania. TTC Mobile is key technology partner of the M4RH program and co-authored this study, that was published by scientific journal Plos One.
