Co-founder TTC Mobile shakes hands with Dutch King and Queen at Gala Dinner

Only a week after TTC Mobile’s co-founder Bas Hoefman attended lunch with the Dutch royals, our other co-founder Hajo van Beijma attended the annual Gala Dinner for the Diplomatic Corps at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam that is hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. This year’s dinner was dedicated to international business, and therefore representatives of international businesses were invited to join the prominent members of the Dutch royal family and ambassadors from all around the world.

Mozambican president visits Netherlands and meets co-founder TTC Mobile

Last week president Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique and his wife paid an official state visit to the Netherlands. CEO and co-founder of TTC Mobile Bas Hoefman was invited to have lunch with the president and the Dutch King and Queen on Friday, a perfect opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs that are active in Mozambique and to discuss our current financial literacy project with Queen Máxima.

TTC Mobile surveys fish consumption in Kenya

TTC Mobile gathered insights on consumers’ attitude and behavior on fish consumption in Kenya on behalf of the FoodTechAfrica project, that is coordinated by Larive International. Compared with findings from the same study in 2013, the survey showed remarkable differences, hinting to a rapidly changing fish market. Data from the TTC Mobile survey was analyzed by FoodTechAfrica and confirms the need for continued investment in local fish production.

Masdar: the interactive information platform for refugees

The current refugee crisis asks for data-driven and mobile-based innovation. The Nomads project group, initiated by the Dutch Coalition of Humanitarian Innovation and chaired by TTC Mobile, has designed a crowd-sourced information platform where refugees and trusted entities can add, retrieve, and rate personal experiences. The platform will facilitate more self-reliance by refugees and will lead to better data-driven decisions by humanitarian aid organizations.

Perception of beer consumption among African women for Heineken

According to research specialists of Canadean, the African beer market is the fastest growing global beer market with an annual average growth rate of 5% between 2013 and 2017. TTC Mobile recently conducted a study for the major Dutch beer brand Heineken, on the attitude and usage of beer among women in Africa, using our dynamic sampling and mobile panel. In order to have a good insight on the topic, we surveyed women in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Survey helps mapping for women’s health in Tanzania

Between May and September 2016, Simavi partnered up with TTC Mobile to investigate the quality of health facilities of the Same region in Tanzania for the Mobile Mapping for Women’s Health project. Using an offline surveying technique on smartphones, 1,518 women were asked about the health services they received and their satisfaction with them. Additionally, 108 men were surveyed about their involvement with the health of the women in their lives.

Translating geo-data into SMS for farmers in South-East Asia

As climate change is increasingly leading to failed harvests, farmers in Vietnam and Indonesia are in serious need of information on weather forecasts, daily coffee prices and farming techniques. A new consortium, funded by the Dutch government, is going to provide this information to farmers in Vietnam and Indonesia by using geo-satellite data. TTC Mobile is proud to be part of the consortium and will translate the data into text messages.
