Child marriage is still a common practice in Tanzania. On this day, 37% of young women are married by the age of 18 and this percentage is even higher in the Shinyanga region of Tanzania. The Firelight Foundation is trying to eliminate the high numbers of illegal child marriage and is now setting up SMS reporting system together with TTC Mobile.
Child mortality from dehydration caused by diarrhea is a major problem in Africa. The Fermented Food for Life consortium has developed and applied a business model aimed at enabling access to locally produced probiotic yoghurt for one million people in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. TTC Mobile is responsible for collecting data from the probiotic yoghurt producers to measure their productivity and business metrics, and to build a database of consumers to gain insights in the local demand.

TTC Mobile gathered insights on consumers’ attitude and behavior on fish consumption in Kenya on behalf of the FoodTechAfrica project, that is coordinated by Larive International. Compared with findings from the same study in 2013, the survey showed remarkable differences, hinting to a rapidly changing fish market. Data from the TTC Mobile survey was analyzed by FoodTechAfrica and confirms the need for continued investment in local fish production.
A mobile data collection and marketing campaign was set up in Cape Verde, to collect insights into the consumption of dairy products for Friesland Campina. Using our mobile survey sampling solution, we created awareness of Friesland Campina’s dairy products and provided Friesland Campina with more understanding of their customers.
The current refugee crisis asks for data-driven and mobile-based innovation. The Nomads project group, initiated by the Dutch Coalition of Humanitarian Innovation and chaired by TTC Mobile, has designed a crowd-sourced information platform where refugees and trusted entities can add, retrieve, and rate personal experiences. The platform will facilitate more self-reliance by refugees and will lead to better data-driven decisions by humanitarian aid organizations.
What are the issues and needs of the most impoverished and disadvantaged in Kenya? This is what NGO Africa Creates wanted to capture when they assigned TTC Mobile to survey their target group. Their questions resulted in more than 1,000 respondents, from hard-to-reach as well as urban areas in Kenya.
According to research specialists of Canadean, the African beer market is the fastest growing global beer market with an annual average growth rate of 5% between 2013 and 2017. TTC Mobile recently conducted a study for the major Dutch beer brand Heineken, on the attitude and usage of beer among women in Africa, using our dynamic sampling and mobile panel. In order to have a good insight on the topic, we surveyed women in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.
Between May and September 2016, Simavi partnered up with TTC Mobile to investigate the quality of health facilities of the Same region in Tanzania for the Mobile Mapping for Women’s Health project. Using an offline surveying technique on smartphones, 1,518 women were asked about the health services they received and their satisfaction with them. Additionally, 108 men were surveyed about their involvement with the health of the women in their lives.
